Sustainable Football Apparel

This research project explores the cultural, emotional, and consumption-driven relationship between football fans and their team shirts, examining why kits hold personal and collective value beyond their functional role. Through research with league players, it also investigates the issue of wasted kits from within the sport itself.

By mapping key stakeholders, existing initiatives, and industry dynamics across the football apparel ecosystem, the project identifies opportunities for design-led interventions that address sustainability, value, and circularity within the sportswear industry.

Skills

  • Mapping the stakeholders involved in the football kit industry, including relevant projects and initiatives (also highlighting potential design opportunities within this space).

  • Mapping the football apparel ecosystem to reveal how the perspectives and actions of different stakeholders connect and shape value, consumption, and waste.
